B.S., Biology, San Diego State University

M.S., Ecology, San Diego State Unversity

As a Research Scientist, Mike has used acoustic telemetry to track cultured fish and investigated surgical implantation and wound healing. He was co-principal investigator (1993–2006) on studies of coastal development’s impact and managed marine fish cage environmental assessments in the U.S. and Mexico (2004–2014). As a NAUI SCUBA instructor and HSWRI’s Diving Safety Officer since 2003, he is dedicated to safety and education. He launched Seabass in the Classroom in 2010, inspiring students in aquaculture and STEAM. Appointed Director of Fisheries Replenishment Operations in 2015, Mike now leads the only commercial-scale marine fish hatchery on the U.S. West Coast.
