Education & Outreach

Inspiring the next generation of ocean stewards

We believe that access to educational opportunities and outreach in our communities are pivotal for fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of marine science. At Hubbs-SeaWorld Research Institute (HSWRI), our programs are designed to engage students, educators, and the community, promoting scientific literacy and encouraging stewardship of our oceans.

Seabass in the Classroom

This hands-on program allows students to raise white seabass from juvenile stages and release them into the wild, integrating STEM education with real-world conservation efforts. Through Seabass in the Classroom, students gain insights into aquaculture, marine biology, and the importance of sustainable practices.

Internships & Fellowships

HSWRI offers paid and unpaid internships, post-doctoral fellowships, and research assistant positions. These opportunities provide practical experience in marine science, fostering the next generation of researchers and conservationists.

Academic Partnerships

Our researchers collaborate with universities worldwide, including San Diego State University, University of California campuses, Florida Institute of Technology, and international institutions like the University of Pretoria and University of Portsmouth. These partnerships enhance research and educational opportunities for students and faculty alike.
