B.S. Environmental Science / Oceanography: Oregon State University

Charles is the Aquaculture Maintenance Technician with the OREHP Department at the Carlsbad Hatchery implementing systems design, installation, and maintenance for systems involved in the production and release of juvenile white seabass (Atractoscion nobilis) produced at the hatchery. Charles started as a Volunteer Aquaculture Technician before being recruited to the Maintenance and Systems Installation Department, Charles also continues to assist Aquaculture Technicians for HSWRI in various projects throughout the Hatchery. Charles attended Oregon State University where he studied Environmental Science in Oceanography with a focus on Marine Biology and has been involved in numerous marine laboratories including Hubbs Sea World Research Institute, Carlsbad Aquafarm, Trion Solutions Fishery Biology and Quality Control, NOAA Fisheries Hatfield Wet Labs, Yale University Earth Sciences Department, and Oregon State University CEOAS Bioinformatics Department. Charles’ hobbies outside of Aquaculture are playing the drums, riding bikes, and marine water sports.
